Due to the unavailability of the existing state funding, we are now looking into alternative and additional funding sources.

REQUEST FOR HELP

IRWMP Launch Grant: The SNC (Sierra Nevada Conservancy) awarded $49,900 to the (MCRCD) Mariposa County Resource Conservation District to prepare a planning grant application to the Department of Water Resources (DWR) to request an estimated $500,000 to complete an IRWMP. This grant, however, is tied up in the state’s budget situation and is currently not accessible. No one knows for sure or what the outcome of the state budget situation will be. The deadline for the planning grant application is expected to be in late summer or early fall. Hopefully, the SNC funding will be released in time to complete the planning grant application before the deadline.

RAP: On March 3, 2009, Mariposa County granted $10,000 to the MCRCD to complete the RAP application. The RAP funding will be allocated from county water funds that are specifically limited to water-related projects. The additional funding is necessary since the SNC funds, besides being currently unavailable, do not cover the additional requirements of the RAP since those requirements were not defined at the time of the original SNC application.
